The genre of this film is horror/thriller. The movie starts off as a black screen with eerie incidental music playing. Job titles slowly start appearing and disappearing on screen until there is a mid shot of a boy sleeping in bed. The lighting is very dim and creates a creepy scene. The camera then moves on a dolly out of the room where we then see a shadow of a women in a window. The music continues to intensify as the women moves from the window. The camera is still moving through the house and turns a corner to reveal the women standing inside the house. The camera then slowly does a close up to her face and the screen fades to black with no music playing. The name of the movie then flashes on screen and the music starts playing louder than it had ever before. I really like this and I will probably suggest this to my group. The screen again fades to black and then fades back in with pictures from inside a house and actors names flashing on and off. With a budget of only 1.5 million, Insidious made an impressive 362 million dollars worldwide. Insidious was nominated for a total of 15 awards and won 8 including 2011 Best Horror Film and many Best Actress/Actor awards.
