Project Selection- My Decision

After considering both the film and the magazine, I have decided on the film project. I would really enjoy coming up with an interesting genre to captivate the audience. Some skills I posses are creativity and I work well with a group in coming up with ideas. The main factor in determining my decision was that making a film would be a more enjoyable experience. I want to have a good time while also getting work done and I feel like the film will do just that. I will be working in a group of three and we have decided on making a mystery or adventure type movie. Each of us will take a turn filming on the camera and editing. We will also be actors in the movie. Lizzy is good at editing and putting the film all together and Lily has good social skills to talk to people and be a good actor. If we decide on an action/adventure movie, we will have a protagonist and an antagonist.  The main genre we are considering is mystery. We discussed making a suspenseful murder mystery with dramatic scenes. The scene would end with a murder and the leaving the killer unknown. We will continue coming up with ideas and discussing them together.

Project Selection- Film

The film project would be very enjoyable to make with a group. After watching The Making of Ferris Bueller, I was very interested in the process of making a film. The entire cast had an amazing time on set and made many memories together and I'd love to have that experience with my friends. Even though they experienced some problems everyone had a great time and the film was a huge success. I love watching movies and shows. When we watched The Newsroom the Inside The Episodes were very interesting to watch and see how the producer wanted the scene to play out. In the beginning of the year we learned many different camera shots, angles, movements, and composition. I would love to try out these techniques on my own film and see how it looks. I always work well with people in a group so that would not be hard to do while making the film. I am also creative and when we start deciding on a what kind of film to do I could come up with lots of ideas. Some challenges might be finding the right location for the scenes and also we are not professional actors and editors. The effects would be better we had experience with editing videos but it shouldn't be a huge problem to figure out.

Project Selection-Magazine

Both the magazine and film project could be a good fit for me. I have always loved to read magazines and by looking at examples of them, I have become even more interested. The documentary we watched, Page One from The New York Times, was very intriguing to see. The film gave us an idea of how the print media world is working today. I have always loved to write and take pictures which is critical in making a good magazine. When you read a magazine, you want to be interested in all of the articles it provides. By designing my own, I can make the few pages I create intriguing to my target audience. I have taken a yearbook class in the past, so I have experience with performing interviews, taking photos, and writing articles. During the course of the year, we learned about asking the right questions and how to properly edit and take photos. I also have experience with working with a professional camera which will make it easier to take photos for the magazine.What might make it a challenge is that I am not that skilled in designing things. Making the cover photo would be difficult for me and it would not look as good as I would want it to.
