Film Genre Research- The Conjuring

The genre of this film is a horror/mystery. The opening flashes on camera with a close up shot of the Annabelle doll and a voice of one of the girls over describing the paranormal activities occurring with the doll. Text appears to tell us the date so we know this was in the past. The scene then flashes back again to the girls coming home and them finding a note. There is an insert shot of the note so we can see what is says. Incidental music starts to play as the camera flashes to a long shot down the hallway to show Annabelle. A voice over begins of one of the girls describing the scene unfolding on screen. The music intensifies while the camera pans the room the girls have walked into. The takes are short to help speed along the scene to go with the music. After taking the doll outside, a crane shot is used to show the girl throwing the doll away in the dumpster. The screen goes black and all incidental music stops playing. This movie has won three awards including the Empire Award for Best Horror. The budget for this film was 20 million dollars but made a worldwide total of 319.5 million dollars.
